Guild Changes

Ok guys, things have not been going as well as they should lately, so a few changes are being made, you will be expected to know them, and they will be in effect as of this coming Tuesday (April 24, 2007).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First, raid attendance has been horrible. We had hoped to keep things very relaxed and at first it worked, but now people are just not showing up which hurts us all. We will be implementing a 65% mandatory raid attendance, and DKP will be put into effect. This way you will benefit from coming to a raid, even if you don't receive an item. Also, if you are on and available but do not get into the raid, you will still receive the same amount of DKP. This 65% mandatory raid attendance means, if you are not here 65% of the time, without a very good reason, you will receive NO DKP until your % comes back up to 65% or more. (Very good reasons are family/friend emergencies and the like.) Your incentive to continue to come to raids is because you need to bring your raid attendance up. When below 65% you can still spend DKP on items, however, if your attendance continues to stay below 65% you will continue to receive no DKP, and you will quickly run out. It is very easy to bring yourself back up above the 65% line, it should only take 1-2 raids at most. These percentages will go into effect after the 6th raid, meaning you need to attend/be available for 4 of the 6 raids, to be eligible for DKP from the 7th run. This may seem strict, but it is not at all. Think about it this way~ If we have 20 raiders, 3-4 of each class, and say only 3/6 of the raid shows up. That's 1/2, only 10 of the 20 people, meaning class balance would be horrible, and the raid would fail. This 65% means you merely need to attend 2/3s of the raids, which is reasonable. For any further questions, please ask Kazin.
Another small attachment to this attendance system: If you drop below 40% attendance, meaning 2/5ths, you will no longer be eligible to raid until your % comes back up above 40%. What this means is, you would still be expected to be available, and that would bring your attendance up, but you would not be invited to the actual raid until you got above 40%. The exception would be if there were absolutely no others available, in which case you may be invited for the sake of the raid and could even spend DKP, but you will still receive no DKP until you once again cross the 65% attendance threshold.
Now you're thinking.. What happens if I have a slump where I can't attend for a while and my % goes to shit? We have thought of this. Your percentage will only be based on the last 60 days. Example: You miss day 1. On day 61 your day 1 miss will no longer be taken into consideration when calculating your raid attendance percentage. So only the last 60 days will matter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There will be 5 different class ranks within the guild,
Rank 1 will be Alts
Rank 2 will be people sub 70 or friends/family (people who do not want to raid)
Rank 3 will be the people who want to raid, but have an attendance below 40%
Rank 4 will be People who currently want to raid and have an attendance percentage over 40%
Rank 5 will be officers/gm
You will be given the opportunity to choose which rank you want to begin with. All people who choose to be raiders will be ranked as Level 4. All people who decide they just play for fun and do not want to raid will be ranked as 2. All Alts will be ranked as 1. There will be no players ranked as 3 at first (hopefully, this rank will always be empty). Rank 3 will be where rank 4 players end up when their attendance drops below 40%. Basically, it is the raiding penalty box.
Please note that we are well aware there are real life situations that can keep you busy which are beyond your control. So please don't freak out and get mad because your attendance will be low and it's not your fault. We are understanding and such issues will be dealt with on a case by case basis and we will do our best to be fair.
YOU MUST POST IN THIS THREAD TO BE GIVEN THE RANK YOU DESIRE. THIS IS ONLY FOR MAINS. WE KNOW WHAT CHARACTERS ARE ALTS. THE ONLY THING YOU WILL PUT IN YOUR RESPONSE IS YOUR CHARACTER NAME AND WHETHER YOU WOULD LIKE TO RAID OR NOT. ANY OTHER TYPES OF POSTS WILL BE DELETED.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a final note, skill will also be involved when deciding who will be taken to raids, etc. This means you need to be prepared for a raid... it is a serious deal. You need to be farming your own consumables for the raids, and not depending on Jedah. You need per class dps enhancing pots/elixirs, sharpening stones, health pots, mana pots, wizard oils, etc. If it is apparent that you never bring supplies, you are constantly OOM, or you are always the last on the dmg meters, this will be taken into consideration when invites are going out. HOWEVER, AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR DPS CLASSES, when we say your DPS is important, this does NOT mean you need to disregard your aggro control abilities for the sake of dps! What this means is you need to be gearing yourself in the best blues/non-raid items you can, and bringing these consumables, so we can have a large group of good dps players, who are all about the same. Example: we have 5 dps classes, in the given time they are all 5 on the dmg meter show like this:
X: 500,000
X: 490,000
X: 480,000
X: 470,000
X: 450,000
These dmg scores are all great, you are all in the same range of dmg and all is well.
Now look at this list:
X:600,000
X:590,000
X:560,000
X:540,000
X:450,000
All are good except the person in 5th, where there is a dramatic difference of 150,000 dmg. This means the player needs to be working more on their blue gear sets/consumables/technique, etc. And just because we are looking at this doesn't mean you need to stress over it. The officers are perfectly aware that different classes have different advantages/disadvantages depending on the situation. We're just saying you need to be "AWARE" of your DPS.
As we all know, Blizzard has seen fit to force us through these 10 man raids where class balance is very specific. The success of any given raid is always given top priority. Second to that is attendance. Those with higher attendance will find themselves with a raid slot more often. Don't freak out now. This does not mean that if you fall behind a little you will no longer have a chance at your items. Obviously people will be traded in and out for different bosses so the people who need drops from that boss will have their chance. Also, if everyone can get their act together and attendance gets high enough, we can start having dual Karazhan raids and Gruul's lair raids and then getting a raid slot will be much easier.
These changes are taking place because we all want to progress, we want to get better, and we want to experience all the fun content in The Burning Crusade. We are not trying to be nazi's :p. Do your best to show up as much as you can and do your best in raids.. Do not just slack and have others pick up for you, in 10 man instances class balance is very specific, and everyone needs to be a good player.
These changes are being put into effect after much discussion among the officers. This guild has a ton of potential. We were the 4th on the server to kill the prince, and yet we have fallen back dramatically. We will still have the fun/family aspect of the guild, it will just be a different rank. If you are utterly and completely disheartened by these ideas, know that there will be a certain amount of leniency for people who have a problem with one of the raiding days, for instance "I cant make Thursday, only Tuesday." If this is a known issue, then you will not be punished for your absence on Thursday, as long as you are reliable on Tuesday. You must have faith that the officers will make the right decisions on a person by person basis. If you have a very specific situation that you would like to discuss there will be another forum thread on the guild board for such concerns. This thread will not be for flamers of any type, merely for questions and concerns. Also if you'd like privacy, feel free to email Legend5602@gmail.com (Kazin) or contact an officer in game.
Thanks for reading this long post >.< and I hope you find these changes to be a much needed revamp to the guild.
ONCE AGAIN, THIS THREAD IS FOR POSTING YOUR DESIRED RANK ONLY. POST YOUR OPINIONS IN THE DISCUSSION THREAD: http://www.outlandersguild.com/viewtopic.php?t=32
